Jacob J. Zehnder offers counsel firm-wide, specifically focusing his practice on
the organization of local, national, and international-focused tax-exempt
entities. Jacob regularly handles tax planning, compliance, and penalty
abatement issues affecting non-profit corporations, foundations, and endowments.
His non-profit client base include public charities, private foundations,
charitable trusts, charter schools, healthcare organizations, trade
associations, and social welfare organizations. Jacob also works with
individuals in their estate planning needs such as drafting wills, living
trusts, and powers of attorney.
Mr. Zehnder currently serves as the Communications Chair for the Chicago
Community Trust's Young Leaders Fund, and actively works with multiple
non-profits on a volunteer basis. He has previously worked in general business
law for a private firm, government and military law with the Army JAG, and
municipal law for the City of South Bend, Indiana. He graduated cum laude from
Valparaiso University School of Law where he was a published writer and editor
for the University's law review. He earned his undergraduate degree from the
University of New Mexico in Albuquerque with a double major in Statistics and
Psychology
